Warning Politcal Rant

I don't normally do this but I have to. A colorado congressman called Miami a 3rd World country (read below). I don't even know where to start. This came from someone who has not been to Miami, has probably never met a black person, let along a latino. He claims that all the different nationalities are forming "evclaves" that are turning miami into a third world country from immigration.

Bull shit. Most of these "enclaves" are self sufficient. They are business owners and legal immigrants. They don't draw on government assistance.

He also claims that it causes more crime. No. Poverty causes crime, not races. He has to be the most racist and ignorant person. I thought public figures were smarter then that.

The kicker is he made these comments at the Breakers on Palm beach island. Umm that is NOT Miami. Hell 95% of palm beach county can't afford the valet for the breakers. If he wants to talk that crap maybe he should go there first hand. Palm Beach county actually has a higher crime rate then Miami!!!

Congressman calls Miami a `Third World country'BY LESLEY CLARK

OUTSPOKEN: Rep. Tom Tancredo, R-Colo., is no fan of Miami's ethnic makeup.WASHINGTON - Rep. Tom Tancredo, the leader of the anti-illegal immigration faction in the U.S. House, spent a recent weekend at The Breakers in Palm Beach.

Ninety miles to the south, he found a symbol to bolster his belief that unfettered immigration is endangering the United States: Miami, he told a conservative online news site, ``has become a Third World country.''

In South Florida to attend Restoration Weekend, a gathering of conservative activists, the Colorado Republican, whose district includes suburbs of Denver, pointed to Miami as an example of how ''the nature of America can be changed by uncontrolled immigration,'' the story says.

''Look at what has happened to Miami,'' the WorldNetDaily quotes Tancredo as saying in an interview. ``It has become a Third World country. You just pick it up and take it and move it someplace. You would never know you're in the United States of America. You would certainly say you're in a Third World country.''

The remarks drew an instant rebuke from Miami Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, who called Tancredo ''flat out wrong'' and extended an invitation for him to come and judge the city for himself.

''I invite my friend, Tom, to visit beautiful Miami, my hometown, and experience firsthand our hospitality,'' Ros-Lehtinen said. ``Come on down, Tom, the water's fine!''

Miami, Ros-Lehtinen said, is a ``world class city where diversity is celebrated. Here people have the opportunity to meet folks from across the globe and honor different cultures. Miami-Dade County is home to many outstanding universities, is headquarters to international businesses and has a vibrant economy.''

Tancredo, who chairs the bipartisan House Immigration Reform Caucus and championed a fence along the border with Mexico, said Monday in an e-mail sent by his office that his comparison was based on crime statistics he believes ``are deeply rooted in the immigration debate.

''While a recent documentary comparison of Miami-Dade County to Baghdad was a bit of an overstatement,'' he wrote, referring to an Australian documentary that compares Miami to Baghdad, ``no one can argue that it is not one of America's most dangerous areas.''

He noted in the e-mail that the number of homicides in the county recently reached 200 for the year. The number is actually a decrease from the 1980s.

''Moreover, the sheer size and number of ethnic enclaves devoid of any English and dominated by foreign cultures is widespread,'' Tancredo said in the statement. ``Frankly, many of these areas could have been located in another country. And until America gets serious about demanding assimilation, this problem will continue to spread.''

Tancredo didn't visit Miami on the Nov. 18-19 trip, but has visited before, a spokesman said. And, if Ros-Lehtinen's invitation includes ''a stay at a five-star beachfront resort, he may be willing to look beyond the inherent dangers that he had cited and visit Miami again,'' his spokesman said.

Tancredo, who has been mentioned as a potential presidential contender, criticized President Bush in the interview for Bush's push for comprehensive immigration reform.

''He is going to do what he can to create a place where the idea of America is just that -- it's an idea,'' Tancredo said. ``It's not an actual place defined by borders. I mean this is where this guy is really going.''

Ugh can you tell I am pissed?????

Thanksgiving and the wild child

Thanksgiving was at my house this year. I felt like hell all day and I still cooked up an awesome meal. We had turkey, green bean casserole, cornbread, sweet potato cassersole, mashed potatoes, carrot raisin salad, and cranberry sauce.

My perfectly behaved child decided yesterday to start throwing tantrums. I don't know what it is all about but she does it mainly when we go out. she freaks out when i start dressing her and it goes down hill from there.

Well as we were getting ready to sit down for dinner she did it again. As i put her in her chair she wouldn't stop screaming. No matter where we put her she screamed. So dad decided to sit in the living room with her instead of eating with us at the table. I personally would have let her have her tantrum but dad is a wuss.

She had the same tantrum when we "attempted" to go shopping today. I don't like this trend. I don't know if its frustration from still not being able to do certain things or what but its wearing down on this pregnant mama's last nerve.

I am still sick most of the time even with the Zofran. I am so ready for the first trimester to me over.

It's Thanksgiving

I am sitting her alone in my house. Its the first time it has ever happened. Oscar took Lexi to see "Happy Feet" It's her first movie actually so I wonder how she will do.

I finished straightening up the house and I am just waiting for my mom to get here and then I will put the turkey in the oven.

I am going to steal this idea from my good friend Leslie and mention all the things that I am thankful for.

1. Lexi - you have been through so much in your first 2 years of life. You are so strong and I am so proud to be your momma. I can't wait until you are fully caught up and walking and talking. I have been there through all of you hurt. Now we are ready to see those milestone!

2. Oscar - You are a saint. You put up with my hard ass personality and love me anyway. I am very lucky to have you. You are my husband, lover, and my best friend. You are an awesome father.

3. Mom. I love you. I know you don't think you have been a good mom but you are wrong. I couldn't ask for a better role model then you. My kids are very lucky to have you.

4. Chris - This is your first Thanksgiving with you new organs. Words cannot even describe how I feel. You have been through so much. I know where Lexi gets her strength from.

5. Leslie - I miss you! You are one of the kindest people that I know. You are very genuine and that is truly hard to find in a friend in today's world. I know that no matter what I tell you, that you will not judge me.

6. Shawnie - What can I say? Who else is willing to listen to all of my whinings about life in general. You are always there when I need you and that means alot.

7. Highlandgal - You are one of my best online friend and I really hope we get to meet one day. I am sure we will. you help me keep my sanity when life is getting a little too out of hand.

8. DJ - I can always count on you for a good laugh. Hmm its a shame you didn't get a chance to blackmail me huh? LOL

9. Erin - Thank you for reading my blog. You are one of the few since I suck at keeping it up!!

I think that is it for now. Damn preggos get emotional don't they?

I am totally disgusted.

We should have moved out of this damn state when we had the chance. I just saw on the news that our home owners insurance carrier is going to be raising premiums by 55%! We are with citizens (state insurance of last resort) because noone else will insure our home since its almost 50 years old. Besides, there aren't many insurance companies that will insure in Florida anyway.

So at 55% that means that our already high premium will go up to about 6k a year. I am choking. I don't know how we are going to do this, especially with the new baby coming. They keep sucking us dry and our salaries are not going up to accomodate this. I mean the money has to come from somewhere. So we have to sacrifice in other areas to pay for this bull shit. I think I am going to write to our newly elected governor (even though he is a republican), since one of his "promises" would be to help ease the insurance and property tax pressures. Not that I beleive that anything will actually be done. I hate that we have to live here. I really do. With my sis moving in now we can't leave even if we wanted to. For health reasons she HAS to stay in Florida. Ugh. Can my life get any more complicated?

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.

I feel like hell

I am so tired and nauseous. It is so hard to make it throught the day. Then to come home to have to entertain a 2 year old is rough. Last night after dinner I was playing with lexi in her playroom. I layed on the floor next to here where she was playing and actually dozed off for 15 minutes. How sad is that?

By 2 every afternoon I am ready to put my head down on my desk and just go to sleep. I don't remember being this tired the first time around, but then again I was able to come home and take a nap every night after work. Naps during the week are now non existent.

I am not taking any time off because I want to save it for my maternity in June. Can I tell you how old I feel right now?

I am a lousy bloggers

So much has been going on and blogger has been giving me a hard time with posting any kind of pictures. Here is a update on everything:

Lexi had her surgery on October 11th. They put her in this stupid brace for 6 weeks. She was not allowed to sit higher then a 45 degree angle and was confined to bed or a wheel chair. The first week was brutal. She was in so much pain and kept pulling at her diaper. She was on lortab the entire time. After that she kept trying to sit up. 4 weeks into it oscar was sleeping with her and she fell out of the bed. We had to take her back to the doc to make sure she was ok. She pulled some of her stitches but her hip was ok and they took her out of the brace. She gets her pins removed on November 21st. Its only been a week and she is already crawling and pulling up. The bad news is that she has pulled another stitch and re-opened it. Its pussing so I need to call the doc tomorrow.

Now for me. I am 8 weeks pregnant tomorrow. i am nauseous quite often and have gained 2 maybe 3 pounds. That is actually pretty good for me! With lexi i gained 10. I am trying to keep my weight gain at about 25 lbs for this pregnancy. We had the u/s last week and it went well. Baby's heartrate is 148.

I promise to get better with my blogging. Its just been very tirinig lately.

Reflux revisited

It turns out that the reflux was caused by the pre-natal vitamins. I have since switched to the flinstones and haven't had another attack.
