I am at a complete loss

My sister is in the hospital again. They are putting in a feeding tube. it will attach to the small intestine and bypass the stomach. This should be temporary (hopefully). She hasn't been well since her stone removal surgery last month. She went in perfectly healthy and came out sick and on a picc line. I feel so horrible for her. She has been through so much and it doesn't look like she is going to be getting relief anytime soon. I wish there was a cure for this condition.

Fun with Solids

Emily is starting on cereal and some fruit. She has been a little constipated so I decided to start her on some prunes. She seemed to really like them. Weird huh?

I am back

At least I hope so. Things are so insane in my life. Between Lexi, Emily, my sister and work I am lucky to have a moment to myself. Here are a couple of new pictures of the girls. Emily's first cereal feeding Lexi's first day of school I will do my best to update much more often

Emily's First Bath

The cord fell off and we were finally able to give her a real bath. Of course she was not very happy!

Emily's Birth Story

Emily Marie's birth story:

On May 22nd at my 35 week appointment I was feeling alot of pelvic pressure and discomfort. I was still closed so no bedrest.

On May 29th at my 36 week appointment my regular ob had an emergency delivery and I saw another doc. I was 1cm dilated and 50% effaced. she told me to take it easy as they really didn't want to perform my c-section before 38 weeks.

On June 5th at my 37 week appointment I was still 1cm and 50% effaced, but my doc was really worried about all the pelvic pain and pressure. She was concerned that my uterus was starting to seperate where my last c-section was so they decided to do the c-section before 38 weeks. They scheduled it for the next morning!!

That night my mom stayed at my house so that she could be there when Lexi woke in the am. I had to be at the hospital by 5 am.

June 6th, 2007 C-section day

5:15 am arrived at labor and delivery. Neither dh or I really slept the night before.

They hooked me up to all of the monitors, put my IV in (this took 2 tries as they blew a vein the first time). Then they put the catheter in and all I can say is OMG that hurt!! With Lexi I was under the epidural when they did it so I didn't feel a thing. It hurt and put pressure all the way up until the spinal kicked in.

At about 7 am. the doc came in to talk to me to explain why she wanted the section done early. Then they wheeled me into the OR. They had me move myself onto the operating table and then they started the spinal. The worst part was sitting up on the damn catheter which was still hurting. The needle in the back didn't really phase me too much. I just wanted the numbness to start so I didnt have to feel the damn tube!

Once I was all prepped they brought dh in. I could feel the tugging on my chest as they were pulling her out. It hurt like hell and it freaked dh out. At one point I got really nauseous and they had to give me something for that.

Emily was born at 7:49 weighing 7 lbs 7 oz. and 19 inches long. With all the indigestion I had during pregnancy I am not surprised by the head of black hair that she has.

So far my recovery has been "ok". They gave me a liquid diet too soon and I threw up jello and apple juice which is real fun when your mid section has just been cut opened. That was probably the worst pain during the whole thing. I am still sore but at least I am walking around and getting around alot better then I did the first time around.

Lots of Catching up to do

Yes I have a lot of catching up to do. Obviously I am no longer pregnant. I will post my birth story.

Life with a 33 month old and a newborn is completely insane. Emily doesn't sleep well at all (unlike her sister). She is eating well and has some lungs on her. She is now 3 weeks old.

She has Lexi's hip problems which we are currently having her treated for. Here is a picture of Emily in her harness. She will be in this for at least 3 more weeks.

Lexi is handling her new sis well. She has the occassional meltdown but nothing too severe. If anything she is just requiring more of my time.
