DON'T USE MERRY MAIDS

I am re-posting the whole story in the hopes that someone else can benefit from my experience.

As you all know we are selling out house. We scheduled a move out cleaning with Merry Maid on March 8th. That day I left my house at 6:30 (the usual time) and I had left my laptop in my daughter's highchair in an attempt to get it out of the way. They called me at work when they arrived (about 8:30). they were there for about 3 hours and were gone by the time oscar came home for lunch at 1. When I got home I really wasn't impressed with the job they did. They broke the top cover to my blinds in the master bedroom, they broke off a lightbulb in my vanity and left the base screwed in, plus they broke the cover to the air fan in the half bath. I let it all go though, until the next morning that is................

I didn't use my laptop that night. I was in bed early. The next morning I woke up and went to the highchair looking for my laptop and it was gone. I freaked because I KNEW that was where I had left it. All our our personal information was on that laptop. I had to take out identity theft coverage and pull money out of our bank accounts so it didn't disappear. I also had to place fraud alerts on our credit files. Its a total mess!

I immediately called merry maid to inquiren about it. The maids claim that they never even saw a highchair in the house (yet they remember the rocking chair that was right next to it). Bull shit. so I told the guy that I was going to file a police report and he said do what you have to do. I mean isnn't this why they are insured????? So oscar came home and he looked also. It was nowhere to be found. I called the police, filed a report and was told that without seeing them do it there was nothing they could do, but they would "investigate". Which means, it will sit on a shelf for eternity and never get touched. I tried explaining what I am going through with our personal info but they could care less.

The following day I got a call from the other owner of merry maids and she said she would work with the police in getting it investigated, blah blah blah. I also contacted our local news and they said running a story might get them to handle it a little better so I agreed.

Monday night the news reporter came to my house for the interview and it ran that night. Merry Maids is backing up their employees and saying they can't file claims without proof that the employee did it. WTF? Again, WHY BE INSURED?!?!?!?!?!?!?! So they basically said I am on my own. So now I am hoping others come forward but who knows. I guess I am gonna have to take them to small claims court. If that is the route I have to take they are gonna get sued for a lot more then just a laptop.

Bottom Line is this: DON'T USE MERRY MAIDS
